In 1989, accomplished an arduous trip to Valley of flowers located in the higher reaches of Himalayas at 12000 feet where glaciers flourish and wildlife blossoms bloom. Because of numerous landslides and incessant rains it turned out to be a tough trek right from Joshimath to Govindghat to Ghangaria and on to the Valley of Flowers. The return was even more memorable as we hopped, skipped, waded through slush and walked most of the route from Joshimath to Haridwar negotiating more mudslides. Nearly 100 Km of pain and pleasure.

Another seven day of gruelling trek was into the virgin jungles of Silent Valley National Park with six friends and five porters carrying full board in 2004. We covered a distance of nearly 100 km literally making and breaking our path using machetes by cutting thick web of vegetation but benefitting the pleasure of relishing virgin jungle lore. Known as the Amazon forests of India, the rolling hills of Silent valley have an extremely unique type forest called the Shola woodland that do not occur anywhere in the world.
