Kaziranga National Park
Kaziranga National Park: Kaziranga National Park represents one of the last standing natural areas in the north-eastern region of India. Covering nearly 50,000 hectares in Assam, it is the single largest undisturbed and representative area in the floodplains of Brahmaputra Valley. The fluctuations of the Brahmaputra River result in spectacular examples of riverine grassland juxtaposed with shallow swathes fringed with reeds and patches of deciduous to semi-evergreen woodlands. Kaziranga is regarded as one of the finest wildlife sanctuary in the world. The park has the big five, starting with Indian one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, tiger, leopard and the mighty elephant. It is also an important area for migratory birds and wonderful orchids.
