Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

This tiny sanctuary harbours the world’s highest density of Rhinoceros but is just about 50km north-east of Guwahati City in Assam. Besides rhinoceros, the other animals are leopard, wild boar, Barking deer, wild buffalo etc. It is also home to more than 2000 migratory Birds and an Important Bird Area on the banks of the Bhramaputra river. Presently Pobitora wildlife sanctuary has a population of about 1000 rhinos and ever increasing but poaching also takeplaces on the sly.
