Ross Island
Ross island : Named after the ancient mariner Sir Daniel Ross during the British era, Ross Island, close to Port Blair in Andaman & Nicobar islands is now a popular tourist dot. The island served as the headquarters of Andaman and Nicobar Islands till an earthquake rocked it in 1941. The, now deserted, island once was called the Paris of east because it had all modern amenities such as bazaar, barracks, bakery, stores, water treatment plant, church, tennis court, printing press, secretariat, hospital and cemetery. Today only ruins remain that are romantic to view with sea of waters all-round.
