Skimmer in Chambal

Skimmer in Chambal: "Bandit Queen" with a stiff upper lip. This tern like bird is awesome with extra long wings and sporting a black skullcap as if to keep off the sun. To top it all, it sports a strange protruding beak that is bright reddish-yellow-orange. She is the original "Bandit Queen" with a stiff upper lip and daringly inhabiting the notorious ravines of the Chambal river region. It is however becoming rare as the Skimmers have to wage war against development (read destruction) in the region. Also called Indian scissors-bill it is fast dwindling in numbers due to river pollution and sand mining.
